Repost from LIW - Patchogue
The old Franks on the service road on Sunrise Highway caught fire last night and burned to the ground. And then around 1:00 a.m., there was this horrible sound (like a street sweeper) that was actually a police helicopter going overhead looking for someone. Does anyone know what happened??

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
I know!! I was like "What the hell is that??" but I was too pooped to lift my head up and find out what was going on. Hubby went out to find out what the deal was and he said there was cops everywhere and one told him to go inside and lock the door.
Very scary!

I drove by and saw the fire last night. I couldnt believe it! And then on our way home, I saw the helicopter. I watched News12 this morning and didn't see anything about it tho.

I heard from a woman at work who's hubby was at the fire that Franks still had the electric and gas hooked up. They don't know if it was set on purpose or not. But that store has been closed for a few months now. Why would the electric and gas still be hooked up? I didn't hear the helicopter, but that must have been scary. If I hear anymore, I'll let you know.

It was indeed a real fire!
The only reason I ask...instead of tearing down a house or building some people donate them to the fire department so that they can burn them for "practice". I went by there today and it definitely doesn't look like it was a drill. If it was, they need a little more practice
