High Blood Pressure-Cured?
About 2 years ago I was on BCP's and had high blood pressure. I was taking off the BCP's and put on high blood pressure medicine. Since on the meds, my blood pressure has been excellent. Well...
I didn't realize I ran out of refills. I tried to call for more but after a run around for 4 days, I was told I needed to get blood work done first. So I went and the dr. told me I was 110/80!! I SWORE it would be high as this was my 5th day OFF the pills. The dr. recommended me get a digital blood pressure machine to check myself each morning and if it is high, to take a pill that day.
Ok..to my actual question....could I have had HBP from the BCP's and since I never had a lapse between the 2 meds, I never knew that I was fine?
Wouldn't my BP be high after 5 days of no meds?

Yes, BCP can cause high blood pressure in those people who have a predisposition to it. I had high BP for towards the end of my pregnancy (pre-e with my first) and several weeks after having both of my children. Although, I had previously been on BCP without incidence neither my OB nor my cardiologist want me on BCP anymore because of that added risk.

BCP can cause higher BP.
When you were put on BP meds..did you change your diet at all? You may have just lowered your BP.

Not really. And last night I made myself a grilled swiss and ham sandwich and Tortilla Chips :0 Sooooo salty.

I had HBP on BCp and have a digital monitor that I check on. I still occassionally have bouts of HPB depending on the day I am in my cycle.

I went to CVS yesterday-122/82
Bought a machine-122/80
I picked up my meds but did not take them yesterday.
