Holiday Shopping and being unemployed

How are you guys approaching the holidays? Are you just not buying anything or doing small trinkets?

I started early. I managed to get everyone that I wanted to get for.

However, I usually spend a little more on each person than I did this year and it is really bugging me. I know it can't be helped, but it still does.

I'm going to have to take money out of an account that I swore I wouldn't to make ends meet this month.

I know how you feel I was definitely on the same boat last Xmas with no job and this year I finally found a job but make peanuts and just making ends meet so I am finding it hard to buy gifts. I bought little things for close family members (mom, dad, sis etc...). They understood last year and understand now that I don't have the means so it makes me feel a little better like I wasn't cheap. Also it doesn't have to be extravagant remember it is the thought that counts.

i bought some gifts and supplemented them with homemade gifts, made with craft stuff i had at home (made wine charms and knitted hats and scarves). i also baked up a storm and gave cookies to friends and work colleagues instead of buying a bottle of wine or other trinket.


ETA: DH's work colleagues, not mine (since i'm unemployed! lol)
