Is a new car mandatory??

Currently drive a Suzuki XL7, small SUV type.

DD is in a convertible now and adding two infant seats will not work in the back. I also figured by age 3, she can be in a booster kind of seat (smaller and not as bulky) and I can somehow manage all 3 back there.

Does that seem feasible?

Im told by so many that its not going to work and should really consider a mini van.

I have a very mild car payment on that car as well as our vehicle so getting something new and a bigger payment a month, ugh I could do without.

Re: Is a new car mandatory??

I have all 3 in the back of a trailblazer right now. It is tight, but they all fit! We can't take anyone with us - and it is a PITA to get the seat in the middle in and out but I didn't want to get something new yet.

Down the line....i think we will need a minivan, but for now it is working. The two outside seats are using the LATCH and the middle one uses the seatbelt. The biggest thing we were told was to make sure the middle seat is secure on its own, not just that it is secure because the outside seats are "holding" it in.
Also, it took a few tries of switching the seats around to see what fir worked the best, so you might want to do that a little early. Of course I asked DH a million times to do it and he finally did it when I was 35w and admitted to the hospital! Chat Icon But it all worked out!

I had an Acura MDX. I loved that car but...I had to give it up. Chat Icon

I had the infant seats installed in the Acura by professional. The two infant seats and the convertible fit across the back but it was tight. DS was 3 1/2 so I asked about the booster and was told not until he is at least 4 and preferebly older. Anyway, our main problem was DS in the middle. If the infant seats were in, he'd have to climb in through the front to get to his seat. Also, he was kicking our arms while we were driving or in the front passenger seat. Also, the infant seats are so long and the front seats had to be very far up so that they didn't touch. DH is 6-2 and he was very uncomfortable. It was just a hassle and even though I cried, I got a minivan. I will never admit it to DH but, it is so much easier

I have three in the back of my CRV and they fit. I need to get a new car in July when the lease is up but I'm not getting a minivan. My oldest is 3.5 and the twins are 8 months.

I had a Pontiac Gran Prix and 3 seats didnt fit. I looked around but between the double stroller etc, I really had to cave and get the mini van. Even with the mini van if I'm shopping space is tight! I hated it, but have grown to love it, the safety features, ease of use and making my life easier is all I care about right now. LOL

Re: Is a new car mandatory??

i have an SUV with a 3rd row, so I will probably keep DS in the 3rd row so that he will not bother the babies. i know it will be a PITA to get him in/out of the 3rd row, but i am SO not ready for the minivan route - even though I know how practical/easy they make things Chat Icon

I have a 2009 MDX with a bigger back seat than the previous years. I get 2 infant seats on each side and my 2 year old sits in her carseat in the middle.

I love my MDX!
