Running with Scissors-Augusten Burroughs
I just finished reading "The Lovely Bones" I was thinking I would read "Running with Scussors" I went on Amazon to see what the reviews were and a lot of them were terrible. Has anyone read this book and enjoyed it? Thanks

Re: Running with Scissors-Augusten Burroughs
I read it and was ready to quit after the first 20 pages, but I am glad I didn't. (I have that annoying habit of always finishing any book I start) It was an interesting and certainly very different read. It does make you appreciate your own family more, definitely

Re: Running with Scissors-Augusten Burroughs
It was a good read but a little sad for my taste. I also don't like books like The Lonvely Bones though bv while I know they are great--they are gut wrenching for me personally. If you liked LB you will probabaly like Running With Scissors

I agree that Running With Scissors is a great book but you have to like this type of book or else you may be disturbed by it. Then you should read "DRY" - it is a follow up to Running with scissors.
I also loved Glass Castle... but I like stories of disturbed familes.

ITA. I liked it a lot, but I can see why some people hate it.
I also think it was his best book. I liked Dry, but not as much and didn't like his other book much at all (can't remember the one I read).

I liked all his books. I am not sure I believed them 100% though.

Possible Side Effects? That is the only one I read, and I enjoyed it.

I just checked on Amazon - the one I didn't like was "A wolf at the table" I didn't get that far into it, it was too depressing to me.
I realized I did like Possible Side Effects and Magical thinking too - I forgot I had read so many of his books.

Re: Running with Scissors-Augusten Burroughs
I liked it, but I like all of his books.
He has a way of taking something completely disturbing and making it sound commonplace.
