NEED ADVICE
I need work advice..I have to make a decision( possibly)
I have been at my current job for 5 years. I dont like it much, its so stressful and Im often miserable there.
I applied at a Hospital for a job doing something similiar but less work on the phones, a little less stress. I was called today for an interview.
I may not even get offered the job, BUT Im afraid what decision to make if I do.
I would be making less money for about 6 months and then more money after that. The benefits start after 90 days and they do offer IVF benefits. BUT...if I was new, its unlikely I could take any time off for IVF so soon or even now for regular RE visits.
At my current job I have more flexibility to take time off because I have been there so long and they know about the IF struggles and obviously Im somehwat comfortable there and scared of change.
I would also be leaving a lot of good friends who offer a lot of support.
Im SOOO torn, I was hoping you all might offer some advice or tell me what YOU would do.
If I did get the job and was asked to start right away, I would obviously not be able to TTC so actively with the Dr's appointments and stuff and a new job might be stressful? BUT maybe its the change I need, and maybe its IVF I need and this would be a possible only chance?
Im so confused

Re: NEED ADVICE
I would wait to see what happens and see if the opportunity would make you happy. The benefits might really be great. Good Luck!!

Re: NEED ADVICE
I say go for it. Change is hard, but we cant keep planning our lives around TTC. YOu are unhappy and stressed at your job. MOving in a new direction may give you relief your body needs. Plus the benefits are better, working for a hospital is a very good job and you will be so close to NSUH you may be able to go before work or during your lunch hour. If your benefits dont kick in for three months you will be there 3 months by the time you would need to take off. I think you get 1 sick day a month, so you would have 3 days available if you needed for ER and ET.
Good luck Donna. I know you will be offered the job.

Re: NEED ADVICE
This is a toughy.......I would probably take the job only because to think of it.....3 months goes by so fast. If you are miserable at you job and you think you need a slower pace, I would take it.
Best of lUck!

Re: NEED ADVICE
Donna, first I would do everything I could to get offered the position.
Then, I would probably take the job. You are unhaooy with your job now. You will be in a hospital, which I think interests you more in the long run. The benefits sound better. You may find the poeple to be wonderful to work with, and very understanding of your situation when it comes time to discuss it, if at all.
I hope for the very best for you...

Re: NEED ADVICE
You are faced with an extremely tough decision here...I know you will make the right choice...
However, if this were me...if I were offered the new job, I'd go for it. Like someone else said, this very well may be the change that you need. Maybe the new job will bring you lotssssssss of luck!!!!!!!!

Re: NEED ADVICE
I would say to take the job. It would be best for you in the long run. And maybe a break from TTC would be good for you and then you can go back to it with good benefits.

Re: NEED ADVICE
Donna, I would take the job. I was in the same position and am just taking a break until the summer because I didn't want to rock the boat with appts, etc. I will have been here about 3 months or so by then.
good luck!

Re: NEED ADVICE
I would take the other job, also. Having a stressful job takes so much out of you. I was miserable at my previous job (with terrific benefits) and often tell my family that I couldn't imagine going through all this IF stuff if I was still working there.
