This morning on Z-100...
...they were talking about how sex is fun but making a baby is not. They said that it becomes more of a chore, rather mechanical, and that all of the romance is gone. They also said that a man should not "pleasure himself" when a woman is ovulating (my guess is because of a temporary decrease in sperm count with each ejaculation) so he can impregnate her.
Now DH and I haven't officially given it the old college try yet (give us a month), but for those of you who are on the immediate road to parenthood, do you find that sex is less pleasureable with the added pressures of conception? It can't be easy on either person. I think at one time or another, many of us have joked about how much "fun" it will be to try but is it really?

I heard this this mornin and was cracking up! For us it didn't become as mechanical as I'm sure it could. We just keep laughing about how tired and sore we get from making sure we've done it enough. You need someting to laugh about as the months roll on.

I just kind of liken the experience to reading a book for pleasure versus for a school assignment. I hated reading books for school but when I wanted to read for myself, I enjoyed it that much more.

It's probably more "fun" at first.
But as the months go by and you haven't been successful and now you're charting and using the OPKs and a positive (on the OPK) comes on a day when you're both exhausted or just not in the mood, IMO, yeah, it's a chore.
Keeping a sense of humor about the whole thing - while not easy - helps, I think.

same here. You gotta do what you gotta do if you want a baby, and know no reason why you couldn't get pg right away.
To make things less stressful I always chant "after", especially during O time (and as I prop my butt in the air):
SWIM SPERMIES SWIM, SWIM SPERMIES SWIM
DH laughs his a$$ off!!!

I only TTC for a month and I wasn't charting or temping, so it was fun for me.
Sadly, yes, it does become more of a "science experiment" to some people.
