Need some help from you all....

i just wanted to gain some input from parents about your concerns for your children over the summer.

specifically, once school is out:

what are your summer plans?
summer school?
family vacations?
how do you plan for downtime?
what kind of support network do you have?
what are your concerns for your child's development?
what resources would be helpful to you during the summer?

if you dont feel comfortable posting please feel free to fm.

for those who dont know-i am the director of special needs programs for a community center (and parent to a child who receives services) and i am looking to develop new programs for the summer so your input would be helpful!

what are your summer plans? Playdates!
Being outdoors a lot!
My dads pool
Visits to Greenport on holiday weekends.

summer school? DS' school offers a 6 week program he will be attending.

family vacations? As of now, none planned.

how do you plan for downtime? My downtime is my DCs nap time! Hopefully DS will still nap over the summer, if not, we'll go for drives or walks.

what kind of support network do you have? Family and Friends

what are your concerns for your child's development? His speech, but, we are improving every day!

what resources would be helpful to you during the summer?
Probably head to the library and get different ideas for projects.
The water table is always a hit.
Books.
Wagon Rides.

Hmm not sure what else.

ETA: I am involved in a meetup group for SAHM and Working moms, so, I'll probably be doing a lot with them (and the kids)

to get out of the house more with his therapists

summer school?

DS goes to school over the summer (he is in a 12 month program)

family vacations?

we will do ours before school lets out for the year, in June, probably Sesame Place and we have a house in FL

Friends & family

what are your concerns for your child's development?

we have a slew of them, and we take one step at a time, and just hope he can eventually function in the "real" world when the time comes

what resources would be helpful to you during the summer?

weekend things so my DH can attend.

Summer plans? pool, park, camp.

Summer school? Yes, not 100% sure where, but school/camp are definite.

Family Vacations? I really hope so.

Downtime? I have no idea...

Support network? Family & friends.

Concerns for child's development? Well this will be our first summer without services... regression... I can't even think about it. He is doing really well right now though. His language and attention still need work though.

Helpful resources? Something to make up for him not getting services.
