Making a Counteroffer?
I was offered a job but the salary they're offering me is $5K less than my minimum salary requirement. I really like the job but I would be more inclined to accept it if they gave me the minimum that I was looking to make. Is it proper etiquette to make a counteroffer? Or would I be giving off a bad impression by doing so?
TIA!

Re: Making a Counteroffer?
I don't think it hurts to ask...the worst that can happen is that they refuse, but at least you tried....good luck!

Re: Making a Counteroffer?
You never have more bargaining power than you do right now -- they have made you an offer and you haven't yet accepted it.
If you want more money, I'd ask for it. In most salary ranges, $5k isn't huge.

I think it is completely appropriate to ask for a higher starting salary before you have accepted their offer - go for it!
Good luck!

If they don't need to cover your medical, I would reiterate that point. It helped with my job since I'm on DH's insurance. It's money they didn't have to shell out for me.

Yes, make a counter and have your points ready to justify it. Do not sell yourself short.
