How can I socialize my vicious dog?
Rocky has become so mean and vicious. My father and I took him to the Wantagh dog run a few days ago and he kept showing his teeth to any big dog that tried to smell him. He's great with humans and loves playing with kids but doesn't like dogs. Everyone keeps telling me its just that he's not used to other dogs and is very scared. And I know he is a scaredy cat becasue after he shows his teeth he runs uderneath one of our legs. I doubt he would actually bt a dog but just the act of him showing his teeth annoys me to no end. How can I start socializing him with other dogs? I want him to make friends!!!!

I think that Rocky and Molly should hang out. They can growl and run away from each other all day long.

OMG I just remembered you have a "vicious" dog too!!! That's so funny
He's really scary! He a whopping 11.5 pounds!!!

Molly has to be about 10 pounds now. I say we let them loose and see what happens.
She growls at other dogs like she is a 100 lb. pitbull.

I know exactly how you feel. My sister has a yellow lab who is the sweetest dog I ever met. If she even *looks* at emma, she goes nuts. she literally goes bazerk! she growls, barks and goes to bite her (but doesn't actually bite her). And, Sadies, my sister's dog shows Emma she is superior by rolling over for Emma and that's still not enough for her. I feel so bad.
And, she doesn't play with kids either and sometimes if people go to pet her, she cowers into me like they repulse her. Sometimes it's so embarassing. 
And it's sad because she is soooo sweet with me, DH and my family.

honestly, the more you socialize him (dog parks) the more comfortable he will feel. you will need to ease him into it (walk him around the park, don't focus on the other dogs) but i am sure that w/in time he will be romping w/ the rest of the doggies. just make sure that you keep him on the leash until you are 100% confident that he is ready to socialize and play off leash.
eta: what breed is he? from my experience it takes smaller size breeds longer to feel comfortable w/ the larger size breeds. not sure if this is always the case, just my observation.

They have socialization classes at some Petco's and other stores in the area. You can try that....

Jes is right the more often you take him, the more comfortable he will get. Try to make him comfortable in the moment-give him a treat, pull out a toy he likes and play with him for a second-get him focused on something else while there is another dog around so that before he realizes it, a dog is close to him and he isn't growling.
also, sometimes when your dog is on a leash, and dogs are approaching him that are off-leash, the dog that's on a leash can get really aggressive as a defense mechanism.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR GREAT ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS. I AM GOING TO TRY ALL OF IT OUT SLOWLY ON HIM TRYING TO GET HIM USED TO BEING WITH OTHER DOGS

In Wantagh park. THe park is next the the Wantagh State Parkways on ramps on Merrick Road. There;s also another dog run around there but can't think of name.
Both times I;ve gone, mostly big dogs
