I applied for a job with a deadline of March 20. I applied maybe a month or month and a half ago. I haven't heard from them but the deadline for submission is not up yet. Is this normal or should I assume they are not interested?

Thanks! I've never really applied to a real job before It is going to be total culture shock to work in a non-lab environment.

I work in a college, and we only read the resumes/CV after the deadline has passed (we can't compare unless we have all of them, and generally only narrow to top 5-10).

That is very good to hear, thanks! It means I'm still in the running for some jobs I applied to a while ago since the deadline for applications is still open.
