So excited...Just got a Smart Board!
The only thing is I have no idea what to do with it  They basically installed this thing in my classroom but didn't give me one bit of training. I tried to find some tutorials on line but all I found was pretty basic stuff that I already figured out. Any suggestions as to where I can find information?

did they install notebook 10 on your computer? it's necessary to open any of the files...it's freaking fantastic...if ur school has the centeo remotes, you can even use the smart board for class tests that are online or teacher created. did u check out the smart website yet, it has a lot of info on there

also, does your teacher center offer training? ours had a lot of courses to take do learn more about it by teachers that were really good with theirs. i also think BOCES runs some courses.

The smartboard was such a great invention!
Definitely check out the smart technologies website for some tips and premade lessons which you can edit to make your own!

If your school has money for it, Techquipment (I think they make the SMARTboard software) offers a SMARTboard certification course. It was sooooo helpful and you learn how to make your own games and files. If you have the Notebook software you should be able to have access to pages and files other smartcertified teachers have made. Websites take on a whole new meaning with that thing! Enjoy it!!

I love mine too! google any topic for smartboard lessons and you can download lessons and then modify them for yourself. That's a good way to learn.
Find out if your district has a SB class.

you can also google powerpoint presentations...just put in what you are looking for....Ex- figurative language powerpoint for elementary

they gave us training for it. It is AMAZING, and it is great because you can show movies on it.
The kids LOVE it.

You can also make interactive lessons and games for powerpoint. I just subbed in a class today where the teacher had made a "jeopardy" game to review for their social studies test. It was very similar to the real game show. I could click on the square they wanted and the question would pop up. Then when I clicked again it would show if they got it right.

mine was just installed today!! so exciting. But they didnt give me a lap top for it.. or a professional dev. workshop... should be fun trying to figure it out
