Re: new here

You have to wait about two weeks to test.

Generally speaking, you can only get pregnant around the time you ovulate. Most women (not all) ovulate on day 14 of their cycles. So, you would count the first day of your period as the first day of your cycle. If you want to get pregnant you should have sex around day 14- some doctors recommend every other day from day 10 to day 18 or so.

Women usually get eggwhitish cervical discharge around when they ovulate. A new embryo won't even implant into your uterus for at least a few days after you have sex- so, you should wait at least 12 days to test.

This is all very general info- a great source on explaining our bodies and how to get pregnant is a a book called Taking Charge of your Fertility. Its an awesome book!

ETA: it will tell you how to take your temperature to figure out when you are ovulating so you can time intercourse the best for your particular cycle.
