How do you go about finding a lawyer?
Is there such a thing as a "general" lawyer to settle a $ dispute? (not divorce or a business)

Does your company offer an employee assistance program? If so, you could call them and ask for legal referrals.

The best way to find a lawyer is through referrals. If you have ever dealt with any attorney, you can always call them and ask for a referral or two. If you haven't, ask family and friends and contact one of their attorneys. You can also contact the Bar Association and request a list of attorneys who practice in the area you need one in.

what type of lawyer eare you looking for? Or should I say with out givinng to muh away is it real estate, no fault, commercial? depedning on what it is for there are many different lawyers. I work at a place where we have 20 different offices and there are 7 different types of lawyers. If you want Depending on what it is regarding, fm me and I can give you some of their names if you are interested

as a lawyer, the best way to find a good one is by referral. ask family and friends who have dealt with lawyers. that is the best way. you find the one that fits your needs.
otherwise try the local county bar association, they should have a referral service.
they basically give you a list of attorneys that have registered with them that do the work you need done.

You can search this site to get a list of lawyers by practice area and where they are located. Some of the entries also include a rating on the lawyer by their peers.

Probaby any lawyer in general practice or a contracts/ corporate lawyer, try the www.nassaubar.org for referrals too
