Giving up long-time self-employment
DH has been self-employed with a successful construction business for about 5 years now. He has been toying around with the idea a lot lately of giving up the business and just working for the man.
A lot of this is related to the hassle of always working 24/7, and often having to wait a long time to be paid for jobs (which isn't fun for either of us).
Has anyone been in this situation? Where did you or your SO apply for jobs?
DH also never completed college so feels very discouraged about that. He also never has written a resume!!!!
TIA!!!

Re: Giving up long-time self-employment
My DH owned a successful home improvement company in Nassau County for over 10 years, about 6 years ago the rising cost of workers comp & liability insurance and "competing" with his unlicensed competitors, coupled with the challenge at that time of finding skilled, reliable employees really started taking a toll on my DH. He decided that he wanted to be involved in new construction in the Hamptons. So we bought a house in eastern Suffolk county and he began trying to establish a reputation in the Hamptons. It took a while but now he's the field supervisor for a company that builds homes in the ten million dollar or more range. He absolutely loves it and since he does have a small stake in the company at this point and there are still some stresses of being a business owner but not like the way things were. It was really hard for him to give up 100% control but I think he realizes now how much happier he is and financially it has been incredible.
good luck!
