Crocheting Classes
I would really love to learn how to make blankets...hats...etc. Any place you can recommend for classes?

AC Moore and Michaels offer classes, as well as some local libraries.
I taught myself...super easy.

I actually bought the book "I taught myself to crochet" and used the website "crochet pattern central". They both have LOTS of pictures, and if i couldn't figure anything out, then I'd ask my grandmother.
I'm also left handed, so I was taking the pictures and doing it backwards, until I realized that both the book and website have left handed directions.

I taught myself by googleing how to crochet and then watch tutorials on you tube. It was very easy.

ITA with the PPs. You Tube is great for tutorials!! I used them to learn, it was easy to pick up because you get to watch someone do each stitch.

i agree that youtube is great for this!
also, joining ravelry.com
the people on there know EVERYTHING. you can ask ANY question, and someone had the answer or a link that will answer your question.
i say, try on your own, first. if that doesn't work out for you, then look into classes. most yarn stores offer classes.

Yep, between youtube and the folks on Ravelry you should be able to learn.
Ravelry is awesome for patterns, too.

Another book I found super helpful (and also a great reference book) is Stitch & B*tch: The Happy Hooker.
I loved the crochet book so much that I decided to teach myself to knit and bought her other book about knitting. Image Attachment(s):
