do you mean golden retriever? there's long island golden retriever rescue, that might be a good place you start...you can adopt or foster a dog....

like the others said, a breeder or a rescue group are the best ways to go.
just something to keep in mind, goldens are big dogs....with lots and lots of energy. the first year is the hardest....but WELL worth it they are the best friend you could ever have!!!

Try NSAL on a Saturday morning...they have lots of puppies so you may find a golden there!

This is where my golden came from. He was about a year old and a nightmare as far as behavior is concerned. However, when he came home and settled in, he was one of the BEST dogs I ever had and the most affectionate dog I have ever had. My point, don't always judge the dog by the way they "show" because it may be environmental and not the dog's true personality.
