Why so long?!?
Hi Everyone,
I just went for a follow up with my doctor today. I lost the pregnancy at almost 7 wks, the pregnancy stopped at 5 wks 5 days. My doctor said that he wants me to wait 3 full cycles before trying again. I recently changed Doctors because my previous doctor didn't take normal precautions when I was worried that my numbers were on the low side, he basically sent me home saying it was a perfect pregnancy even though I knew those numbers were so low at 14 dpo. He really ****** me off! Now the new guy I really like but hes saying 3 full cycles, which could be four months!!!!! I am just wondering what other people were told in the same position.
Thanks as always for your advice :)

Re: Why so long?!?
I think you will hear every Dr has different opinions. Almost all with say you need to alteast wait one full cycle, some suggest 2 months or 3.
My Dr Suggested I wait 1 cycle & then I could start trying again.
I think if you don't want to wait, you should be ok with just waiting one monht.
Sorry again for your loss!

Re: Why so long?!?
Did you miscarry naturally or did you have a d&c? They usually tell you to wait longer with a d&c, I had a natural m/c and my dr said I could start ttcing right away, so I waited for one AF and then tried again.

Re: Why so long?!?
I actually had a natural miscarriage. I will give a quick run down of what happen and maybe you girls could tell me why I have to wait. I found on I was pregnant at 14dpo. I went right to the doctor to have blood work. I didn't know that most doctors want you to wait 6-8 weeks before going in. My hcg level was only 36, still not sure of the prog level. MY doctor told me that was fine, altho what I was reading was suggesting that was very low. I knew the day I ovulated so I was concerned they said, maybe you didn't ovulate when you think you did. I started to spot a few days later and went to the ER where they did a sono and told me that it was too early but my hcg was 1350, and then meant It was rising ok. I started seeing a little more spotting and started to get more nervous. I had a follow up with my doctor 5 days after the ER visit and he said all was ok, I was measuring 5 1/2 weeks, which was right on target. Exactly one week later I started bleeding brown, which everyone said was ok, well in my case, it wasn't. I called my doctor when it got heavier and he sent me to zwanger for a u/s which showed I was 5 1/2 weeks, I hadn't grown in over a week. Only about an hour later did I start bleeding heavier and heavier until two days later it was bright red. I saw another doctor to confirm and my numbers were dropping. He said I either already passed the fetus or it was a blighted ovum. To be honest, i was passing a lot so I don't know, he said the u/s that were done dont show a fetal pole as far as he is concerned. I continued to miscarry on my own until today, when it subsided. The new doctor said he suggests 3 full cycles and no less...I am just bummed, altho I might started after 2, I just dont want to be in this situation again. Thanks for listening and any advice

Re: Why so long?!?
Every doctor is different. My doc said I could start after I got my first real AF...I too had a blighted ovum. My doctor doesn't check levels or betas or anything. He's more of a let nature take it's course doc and I like that. I didn't go in till right before 8 weeks...and he still hasn't taken my blood! lol The only sure thing is watching that baby grow inside....cause I feel everyones levels can be different.
Did you ask why he wanted u to wait 3 months? Most docs say because your body can be sooo off after a m/c that it will be VERY hard to put a timeframe on your pregnancy, and waiting allows you to track your cycles...

Re: Why so long?!?
I had a natural miscarriage at 8 weeks. My dr told me to wait for 1 AF and if it had been a D&C 2 AFs. I ended up getting pregnant 3 weeks after (my cycle stayed the same). I'm now almost 10 weeks. From what I read the waiting has to do with dating the pregnancy.

Re: Why so long?!?
The dr told me that after the D&C I just had to wait until after AF came back and I could TTC.

Re: Why so long?!?
I'm sorry for your loss. Like everyone else has said, I think every doctor is different. I miscarried naturally around 6-7 weeks, and my doctor told me to wait 2 cycles before trying again.

Re: Why so long?!?
Thank you everyone. I guess I will wait 3 months, hopefully that will be almost 2 full cycles and start trying again. It stinks that you end up having to wait.

Re: Why so long?!?
Hi I'm sorry for your loss. I had a D & C and the doctor said we could TTC after first AF. Unfortunately my husband has a severe injury now so we wont be able to TTC for at least 3 months, so I understand that it hard to wait.
