We just had to put my dh's dog down.

I feel so bad, she was the absolute best dog and she was 13 1/2 yo. He had her before he had his first wife, daughter and me and no matter how hard his life became throught the divorce, family problems, death of his brother she was always there. For the past few weeks she had trouble walking then yesterday she was outside and when she came in she couldnt catch her breath and didnt eat or drink anything, we think she had a stroke. I feel so bad for him, this is the worst thing to do, then to top it off he feels so bad because he couldnt bring himself to stay in the room when they did it and wouldnt let me.

I am so sorry for your loss!! I just lost my dog of 11.5 years two weeks ago!! I am devastated but still in denial. If you need to talk FM me!!

A Loan From God

God promised at the birth of time,
A special friend to give,
His time on earth is short, he said,
So love him while he lives.

It may be for eight or ten years,
Or only two or three,
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for me?

A wagging tail and cold wet nose,

Follow his lead and gain a life,

Enjoy each day as it comes,

Be loyal and steadfast in love,
As the dog there by your side.

Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call,
To take him back again?

I fancy each of us would say,
Dear Lord, thy will be done,
For all the joys this dog shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've know,
Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for him,
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

If by our love we've managed,
God's wishes to achieve,
In memory of him that we have loved,

I am so sorry. I had to set my little man free this past October & it was so hard, but I know it was the right thing to do.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; Her eager body quivers. Suddenly she begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, her legs carrying her faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
