Dr. Appt June 6!! **UPDATE**

I have not posted much on here, but hope to make the "transition" in less than 4 weeks, after the wedding. But I wanted to post that I have an appt w/ my gyno on Tues June 6 to get 1 LAST pack of BCP and start vitamins!!!! FH and I are going to TTC right after we return from honeymoon!! Some say we should wait, but I turn 32 in Dec, don't want to wait TOO long!!! Just wanted to share!!!

Thank you all for your kind words and wishes!! Things went well, they did a regular check up, gave me sample pack of BCP...my LAST pack, and gave me PrimaCare One Vitamins to take!! And as I walked out the girl said, "hopefully next time we see you, you'll be pregnant!"


My concern is, from friends who I know that saw their Dr when they were TTC, the Dr checked them for immunizations and also did a test to see if they were carriers for any diseases or such. Is that common? I only met with the Nurse Practitioner, should I meet with my Dr???? TIA

Congrats. I know how you feel. We went to my doc a couple of weeks ago for advice as well. DH just asked me if I was ready to get started. Good luck and lots of when you get the ball rolling!

In response to your immunization question -- sometimes they will draw blood to see if you are still immune to Rubella, since it can cause complications if you contract it while pg. You can call your doctor and ask them to do this test. If you are not immune they will suggest you have the shot, then wait 3 months before TTC.

I never had this done, but after I was pg they did tons of blood work to check for this and other things. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the other blood work until after you get your BFP, but the Rubella test might be good, so you can get the shot if you need it.

Thank u for asking this. I went to the DR yesterday and mistakenly saw the nurse practitioner . She couldn't answer my questions and was "rough" with me. Needless to say I don't think I'm going back there.

Anyway they started me on prenatal but I was hoping they would do testing also. I may go to another obgyn.

In regards to blood work, my doctor was very thorough and had me do that just to make sure I had immunity to certain things. They did find me not immune to one particular thing (don't remember what it was) but they said it was not a big deal if I wouldn't be around small children on a daily basis. If you feel you want the blood work, just ask for it! I think if they're not willing to give it to you, even after your request, consider changing doctors.
