Re: Susan--any word back yet...

Thanks Ladies. Nothing Yet. We were fingerprinted on 4/18. You know I would have posted if I had heard back from them. Chat Icon It's ok though. I'm learning to accept the wait and truly believe that timing works out for the best for all of us. I know my wait could be much worse than it is, and right now I'm focusing on my little neice who was born very early and has a cystic hygroma, fetal hydrops, and an infection amongst other problems. That and the fact that it's the busiest time of the year at work for me....I don't have much time to obsess until I come home. Plus, we can't even decide on a name. Chat Icon

I'm assuming you haven't heard back from INS either, Sandra, right? I wasn't expecting to hear this week because it's a short week. Maybe next week? If it's 10 weeks from when we had our appt, that would mean 6/27. When Cathy told me it was 10 weeks though, I thought she meant from the time INS receives the homestudy until you receive the I171H, which would mean I still shouldn't expect anything until 6/9.

Originally I was just going by the timeframes posted by the other NB girls, who said 3-4 weeks from appt til paperwork was received. I guess they're just backed up right now. Who Knows...

How are you ladies hanging in there with your waits?

ETA: Sorry for the rant...

Re: Susan--any word back yet...

I think there is a number to call to check your status. I forget what it is but you can google it. I would definately call because that seems like a long time.

I moved right after we got our fingerprints and our form got mailed to the wrong house. I called and they sent me a new one asap. They were very helpful.

Re: Susan--any word back yet...

Karen,

I remember reading about that number on one of the adoption forums I frequent, but I'm assuming it varies by state. I'll have to google it like you suggested. I know others (everyone I've spoken to actually) have gotten their approvals within 4 weeks, so I was surprised it was taking this long, but Sandra mentioned that her neighbor's paperwork took 10 weeks so I suppose INS is backed up. A phone call certainly wouldn't hurt though. Thank You!

Re: Susan--any word back yet...

Ladies-

When DH and I took one of our classes at NB a few months back Cathy D mentioned that the man at Fed Plaza was who reviews and does the approval mailing was behind b/c his assistant quit. That the wait was going from 4-6 weeks up to 10 wks b/c of this. I don't know if the situation has changed, it dosen't look like it has. But as I mentioned my neighbor who is w/ NB and adopting from China got her approval in 10 weeks.

If the approval does not arrive by the 10th week I will SCREAM!Chat Icon

If anyone has the # to call, pls share...

Re: Susan--any word back yet...

Sandra,

Don't bother. I was just on hold for an hour and finally got through and the news is not good. Right now, they're working on petitions that were filed from 1/21 to 2/21. She said to wait at least 30 days before calling back but that it should definitely come within the month. My receipt is dated 2/23. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Chat Icon

WHAT?

What Receipt?

You were fingerprinted on 4/18....

I am lost...Did NB send your homestudy in and they re'cvd on 2/23? Is that it? Did they tell you you were stamped 2/23?

Re: Susan--any word back yet...

I'm happy I wasn't the only one confused with this. Thank God I'm so anally organized so I was able to pull out different sheets of paperwork quickly while I was on the phone with the Homeland Security woman. Basically, it doesn't go by the date you were fingerprinted. It goes by the date that your I600A was filed with INS. They won't even look at your fingerprints until they get to your batch. So look at the date of the letter sent to you by Homeland Security. The first one we ever got -- that says, "You will be receiving a fingerprinting appt shortly. Attached is your reciept of the 7 million dollars you just spent..."

Oh god, I've done this twice and I have no idea what the heck you are talking about. Good thing hubby is organized. But I don't even think he would know?
