Do you make more than your DH?
And if so, do you think it bothers him (even if he doesn't say it)? I just accepted a new job with a 30% raise, and the same week my DH got laid off from his job...I am a little concerned about the dynamic of our relationship and money issues (we are newlyweds)...has anyone dealt with this or have any advice on how to help support him?

Re: Do you make more than your DH?
As a teacher , I don't think I can ever make more than DH, but he had this conversation with a friend of his who was against his wife making more. DH says he would absolutely be OK with more money coming in - he doesn't care where it comes from.
DH did get laid off right after we were married. He took it pretty well, except for one part. I really had us budgeted and I gave us each $80 every 2 weeks for spending. We were at the grocery store and I asked DH if he had $20 and he freaked out over giving up his spending money. I'm not sure why and it was the only time something like that happened.
The worst part about the time off was the boredom. I would get home and he would start talking to me NONSTOP (the War in Iraq had just started. He would watch it all day and report every detail to me when I got home).

Re: Do you make more than your DH?
I do - with my bonus its about $30K more (he is a teacher).
I don't think it bothers him. the way we do our bills, we have the same amount of spending $ at the end of the month, I just pay more bills and put more in savings, which is ours anyway. so it doesn't feel like I make more bc we have the same to spend.
If he ever finds an A/P job on LI though, he might surpass me, I would NOT be bothered by that at all, lol

I did before I lost my job and Dh doesn't care one bit. When I find a new job it will most likely be once again more than DH.....as long as we can pay the bills who cares.

Re: Do you make more than your DH?
He makes a lot more than I do, and I hate it.
He wouldn't mind if I made more than him, but I really wish I made the same as he or more.
I guess I'm weird,

Re: Do you make more than your DH?
right now we are both making the same. Zero!!! DH got laid off 2 weeks ago & I am in college fulltime. But he has always made more than me. Once I am done with school and wokring for a few years I will prob make more than him. I am ok with that has he has supported me for the past 2 years and will for the next 2.

I do (several times over, so there a major discrepency). He doesn't really care, because it allows us to go shopping, eat out whenever we want, etc.

I do. He told me he felt a bit less masculine when I got the new job, but overall he's happy that it'll be easier to pay our bills!

Re: Do you make more than your DH?
I used to, but I don't think it bothered him... or if it did, he never let on! Just be sensitive about his feelings when you discuss things... hopefully he'll be fine with it.
