That is absolutely awful! I'm so upset for this little boy. I wish I knew him - I'd bring Robbie and Noah over right now!

Re: Yet another birthday party spinoff
You mean that people RSVP'd with a yes and then called last minute to say they weren't coming? As in something better came up or they didn't know about these games? Even make up games are not scheduled last last minute. Wow, that's a new low in rude behavior.

Re: Yet another birthday party spinoff
DS has only been in pre-school for 2 years and so far I have noticed that people don't like to go to backyard parties.
Last year we were invited to a pool party. It was a joint party for 2 kids in DS's class. So out of 16 kids, minus the 2 kids whose birthday's it was, myself and another mom rsvp'd yes. I felt so bad too. We still had fun, but I felt really bad for the kids.
This year we attended one backyard BBQ in April. Again 16 kids in the class and 4(including myself) showed. This past friday was another and again only 5 or 6 people showed.

Re: Yet another birthday party spinoff
Do you know any of the other families that were invited? I'd kinda let them know indirectly. Thats horrible!

I hear what you are saying...I've never had an issue with them but the one's I've had have been close friends invited, not a classroom of kids. I personally like them, 2 of my kids are going to house parties of friends this coming weekend. Granted my DD's classmate lives in a $2.5 million house but the other one is in a modest house. But these people that Barbara is talking about RSVP'd yes and then cancelled last minute. Maybe in people's mind, the notion that it's at a house means no minimum that the hosts need to guarantee so it's no biggie to back out or that it won't be the 'thrill a minute" that party places promise but it's still a child involved who expected guests and got disappointed. I'd be so pizzed that I was opening my house to these people and in the end they didn't give a damn about my kid's feelings enough to even show up when they said they would. I'd probably be crying the second my son was asleep after holding it in all day. If i was the Mom of the party child, I would be hard pressed to not tell some of them off if I saw them at a school function. I probably wouldn't do it bc I couldn't see myself fighting verbally (or otherwise ) esp if my kids were there but I would be so pizzed. People s uck.
