I never got a 3D sono b/c 1. Didn't want to pay for it. 2. I wanted to wait until the baby was born to see what it looks like!

I generally think they are really cool. If they are taken too early, though, they can look a little "odd."

I don't think this has anything to do with the original post but I'll contribute. LOL
I don't have and children but I do want at least one child some day....
Last time I was at the GYN, I needed to get one of those internal sonograms to check out some cysts....
Well....the office has a giant flat screen almost on the ceiling so you can see it while you lay down.
I had to look away! While I KNOW I wasn't pregnant...I couldn't help but think that they were gonna find a baby in there.  
It was odd to me to see that when in fact there IS no baby. Didn't seem natural. Why would I want to see that if I'm not looking for my baby?
I'm demented.

I hate those 3D and 4D sonos -
I hate even more when someone pushes them in your face saying 'isn't this the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?" ..........
I was pretty objective during my pregnancy - I didn't discriminate - those things creep me out. Look like aliens, and I don't care what anyone sayd, it NEVER looks exactly like the baby ..............
I can understand the excitement of wanting to see the baby I guess - but I declined those sonos b/c I think they're toally creepy

Omg I am peeing..kara let me see if I can find the pic I had and if I find it I am MAILING IT TO YOU! LMAO. I had to go 24-7 with the twins and became friends with the sono tech, anyhow..she always gave me a 3d sono because she liked me. Everyone's pic was so cuddly and cherub looking. I go in..my CHILD WAS SMILING FROM EAR TO EAR AND EYES WERE WIDE OPEN! HE LOOKED LIKE A BABBY HOBBIT-IT WAS FREAKY! It is the perfect Halloween invitation and one day it will be just that!
So to answer your question--yes they can be very darn creepy! :)

The 3D pics are AMAZING if you do them later in pregnancy. The 3D pics of my DD at 33 weeks looked exactly like her when she was born. Cute chubby cheeks and all. Even now at 21 months old she still looks like her 3D sono pics when she is sleeping. I am happy I had them done. 
As for earlier sono pics, 3D or not, even when she looked like a speck of dust they were amazing. It's just awesome to see this little life inside of you regardless of it's skeleton appearance or not. I loved my sono pics at every stage of the game!

My dad refused to look at any of my sono pics. I would be like "look, he has my lips" - he was like "He looks like an alien, how can you even see his lips"
They are pretty freaky, and I always feel like Rachek on Friends when she was getting her first sonogram of the baby. She was like "I DON"T SEE IT!" I never know what the helll I'm looking at!
