Where do you get your books?

I almost exclusively buy, but want to try using the library more this summer. Our neighboring town has an awesome library!

Re: Where do you get your books?

I dont usually like using the library bc they always seem to smell Chat Icon I have broken down and used the library the past few months.

I used to only buy or borrow from friends, but now the majority of the books I get are from paperbackswap.com

Usually the library. MIL works there and got me hooked.

You can get new books really quickly if you reserve them in advance.

Re: Where do you get your books?

DW is at the library almost every week, for either herself, me and/or DC.

We do buy books, but of course no where near as many as we borrow.

Library!

I also buy used books from libraries, but rarely buy new books, unless it is something I need to refer back to a lot (like a cookbook, or how-to book)

We'd have no room & no money if we bought everything we read.

Re: Where do you get your books?

I buy, because half the time I go to the library, the book I want is not there. Either it's not due for a month or it'll take a week to inter-library it. It drives me crazy because I want to read it NOW, not in a week or month.

Case in point, I went to the library on Saturday with a list of 5 books I wanted. NOT ONE was there! So I drove over to Borders and bought 2 of them.Chat Icon

I buy, either from Amazon or this amazing little indie bookstore down the street. I admit that I spend a lot of $ on books. I don't know why, but I absolutely HATE reading books that other people have read or even touched. Chat Icon

Re: Where do you get your books?

I usually trade them on paperbackswap .com but sometimes I buy, depending on how badly I want to read a book.

I wanted to see if anyone chose "shoplift" Chat Icon

Right now, I am trying to get through all the books I have bought in the past that I have not yet read. I am trying to get back to borrowing from the library and not buying. Now that we bought a house and have a great library, I am trying to buy less.

I am also on paperbackswap and love it.

Re: Where do you get your books?

I really like going to the library. Some books I will buy if I can't get it in time for my book club.

Also I check garage sales, they are cheapest there!

Re: Where do you get your books?

I got in the habit of buying books because I couldn't join the nassau county library until I stopped renting and had a real address. Now I'm a member and I'm going to try and use the library more too but I do love the way a full bookshelf looks.

Really? I've always had library card as a renter ( In Westchester County, though). Was it an illegal apt?

Re: Where do you get your books?

I am LOVING the library right now. I quit Netflix b/c the library has a great selection of films and I even borrow CDs. Also, if there is a book I'd like to read, I can reserve a copy online, and they call me when it's in.
