Work pet peeve
So I work in data entry and get a lot of phone calls. It makes me nutty when I get a call and it goes like this:
Me: inventory, saraH speaking.
them: yes, I'm calling because..hello...I'm calling to see...
why say hello in the middle of the sentence? Do thye think I hung up already?

Interesting, b/c my pet peeve is when I call someone and give a brief introduction and I hear nothing and have to say hello to confirm they are still there lol

It's not just at work, but I hate it when someone leaves a 3 minute voicemail then at the very end says, in 1 second or less "My name is Mike Smith and my number is 5551234"

I don't have a phone call peeve.
I guess my peeve right now at work is this guy who is a constant Donnie Downer.
He is always coming around to me to complain and then it can get me in a mood about work.
And to be honest, his gripes------well, they ARE part of our job description and I really have had no problems doing what he is complaining about.

I hate the 3 minute voice mail. Anything more then "Hi, this is Christine from Acme. I am calling about order #12345. Please call me back at 212-555-1212" should be put in an email

I have a friend who is a speech therapist, she does private corporate stuff on the side like accent reduction...and she always emphasizes when leaving your number on a vm, speak SLOWLY and CLEARLY and repeat the number!!! I always do that, good advice!

I hate the 3 minute voice mail. Anything more then "Hi, this is Christine from Acme. I am calling about order #12345. Please call me back at 212-555-1212" should be put in an email
I hate the "This is Sam, call me back"
He does this to me ALL the time. I have to call him back, find out what he wants, go look for it/do it/follow up, then call him back again.
Just leave me a quick message or better yet E-MAIL ME.

Or they call knowing they are calling the wrong department hoping I have some magic number to transfer them to. No honey, I have the same extension for that department you do

I used to hate the people that call back thinking they're speaking to the same person they were before and just pick up where they left off with whomever they were speaking to before. Example:
Me: "XXXX, this is Dina speaking"
Client: "Yeah, so I spoke to the architect and he told me that the specs don't match"
Me: "I'm sorry sir, who is this? What project are you referring to and which project manager were you dealing with?"
Then inevitably you get the irritated sigh in response. Sooo annoying
