Re: Question for the Childless Couples
I have ALWAYS wanted kids... but I also thought i'd be married A LOT younger than I was, so there would be time to have kids. And now that I am older and since TTC is being so difficult, it comes and goes. Yes, I still WANTS kids... a lot of them and very much so! But the reality of and age and of being comfortable in my life now sometimes makes me take pause.
Then i'll go to a picnic w/2 preg women and a bunch of kids at it... and my herat will break at the thought of not having any kids.
So IDK.

Re: Question for the Childless Couples
I always wanted kids & we are still TTC. however, we are older & the reality is it just may not happen. i am a firm believer of what is meant to be. i do count my blessing & Thank God that i met DH. there was a point when i thought i would always be alone. my heart does break when i think of not having kids. however, its not a bed roses. i recently went to a barbeque when some mothers said to me "do yourself a favor & don't have kids. your life will be over". i was a little taken back by that. its a HUGE responsibilty and it means sacrificing ALL your time.
so i guess i'm on the fence. i will be happy if we can have one. if not, we have to make the best of the cards that we are dealt.

Re: Question for the Childless Couples
Don't feel selfish for enjoying your life and your time with DH! I would imagine that especially since he was sick, every moment that you have together is even more precious.
I'm probably one of the few '04 brides who does not have kids yet. DH and I got married with a "5-year-plan". We knew that we wanted to enjoy life together without being tied down with kids, and we really have. Unfortunately, once we started TTC, things have not worked out smoothly as we had hoped or planned, but even when I'm feeling down, I always remind myself about all the fun DH and I are able to have together without kids. That is worth a lot!

Re: Question for the Childless Couples
throw me in the 'selfish turd' group too
i used to feel so lame telling people i didn't want kids that eventually i just stopped saying i didn't want them and changed it to "i'm not ready"
but after many years of 'not being ready' i think the jig is up! i still have some time to really think about it, but as of now, both DH and i are still leaning towards no. we LOVE to travel, i'm a fitness instructor and love the freedom in my schedule, DH works like crazy and enjoys his days off with no responsibilities, we spend money on things we want rather than needing to save for college funds or birthday parties and we can come and go as we please.
kids are great, but they are a lifestyle change... and a BIG one at that.
and right now my lifestyle suits me just fine

Re: Question for the Childless Couples
I don't think it's selfish at all. You are enjoying your life and your husband.
Being a parent is exhausting and life changes drastically. I wouldn't say our life is over but it is VERY different from what it was. I've embraced these changes and we roll with it. DH and I will be taking our first kid free vacation in October and I'm SO looking forward to it.
Enjoy this time now and if you ever decide to have kids someday you won't have any regrets about things you should have done before.
