What does your schedule look like?
First year teacher of 2nd grade here!
I have not had the opportunity to meet with my 2nd grade team yet as they are out of town and enjoying their calm summers as I panic about my 1st year. 
Can you please share what your daily schedule consits of? I am wondering how to break up time.

9-9:20ish arrival unpack, etc.
9:20-10ish math
10ish-12:20 writing/literacy block (snack is in here too)
12:20-1:1:05 lunch
special
2-2:15 read aloud
2:15-3:00 science/ss or theme activity

I taught 1st and 2nd. I think it depends on the curriculum and programs you use.

I teach 3rd grade. Do you know what reading and math programs you are using? Depends a lot on those IMO since some expect you to allot 90 minutes a day and others 45-an hour.

OMG... Stacy you are a teacher already and got a job? i feel like it was only yesterday that you were posting about finding a place to get your Masters. Congratulations!
and sorry--- I teach special ed., so I am no help to you in terms of scheduling!

Sorry Stacy, I'm a specialist so I can't help but I wanted to post to say CONGRATS!!! Seems like yesterday you were posting asking all sorts of questions...then you had your DD...and now you're a teacher. Look at all you've accomplished!! Congrats Stacy!!

Dont make yourself crazy. wait to meet with your team. You may put in all this work and not be able to use it. You need to know when preps are, lunch, ect. My school also dictates how many minutes each subject is. For example: math 60 min, reading 45 writing 45 we also have to squeeze in 4 - 30min center times and 2 - 15 min shared reading and 2- 15 min read alouds.
