Dumb Question, but do I need to go to the GYN before
TTC? Or is ok to wait until after I think I may be pregnant? We are not TTC yet, but are thinking about starting later this year.

It's a good idea to go even for just your regular check up. He may want to start you on Folic Acid and/or prenatals.

I discussed with my Dr. that we wanted to start TTC later this year. She told me to take a daily vitamin and folic acid. I was tested to make sure all of my immunities are up todate and that I'm clear of all std's.

We went together. It helped calm down fears of mine. My doctor is not an alarmist and informed me not to make TTC more clinical than it needs to be unless we have to. He gave us instructions and told us that if in 5-6 months we are not pregnant, to come back and we would investigate other methods. Going to see your OB/GYN before TTC may not be necessary but will certainly give you an opportunity to ask questions that are not easily found here or other places on the net.

hey christine!
i would've loved to meet up with you too---
anyhow, i did see my gyne prior to ttc, just for a regular checkup--- pap smear, etc. to make sure everything was okay. it also gave me the chance to ask any questions. she advised me to take pre-natals and see my internist too...

I would. You never know... I am Italian and carry the trait of thalisimia and my FH carries the trait of Sickle cell... We DON'T actually have the disease but we have the traits...
And after discussing with my gyno I found out all this info about there being a 25% chance of our child being VERY sick if the traits were combined... I never knew that...
I am not trying to scare you or anything... I just think it couldn't hurt to go to your gyno with both blood test of you and your husband. Then you will know everything is fine and you can start TTC!
