new to all of this
Hello
My step daughter moved in with us in June and has been registered to attend Woodland Middle School in East Meadow- 8th grade.
I was able to get online the required reading for the summer.
How do I know what are the supplies they require for her - I would like to start buying things little by little so I want to be overwhelmed later.
Thanks in advance for any help

We usually get sent a list in August & it's on the website in August as well (elementary).
For my sister's kids (middle school), I know they get basic supplies (notebooks, pens, etc) & then the first week of school, they're on the huge line at Staples getting the rest.

thank you for responding - so no way to avoid the long lines for the mandatory list?

Your school may have a different timeline. I would call them & ask when they release the supply list.
I get my stuff on my lunch hour in the city - no lines there

You should check out the website for your school district. Our district publishes the supply list on their website under 'forms and publications' - they have had it on there forever.
You can shop on line for school supplies too!
The challenge is that last minute stuff they want/need the first day of school! That's when you really hit the crowds - but like Barb said - if you can get our during lunch hour when everyone is in school or working you will be better off!
