How long would you give?

So I am scheduled to start my MBA in Technology/HR Management in August/September online. My concentration can change but basically I am working on my MBA.

I keep going back and forth with whether or not I should do it. I have had my teaching certificates for 6 years, and have only been employed on LI for 2 years. All of my other teaching experience is virtual/out of state.

I love teaching, but I want to get my career started. I know everyone says the economy wil eventually get better, but when?

I have been looking for an exec assistant/office management position for now as I have no experience in HR.

Would you give it more time?

I don't know what else I can do to become more marketable. I wanted to start working on an administration degree but Stonybrook won't accept me because I'm not currently teaching. ughhhhhh

I hate this. I hate being confused over my career. My DH says to wait...but how long...all I ever feel like I am doing on LI is applying to jobs all over the area and never getting anywhere. When do I finally say enough is enough without moving out of state again (which is another debate!)

Since you are a teacher - and you want to get into HR - have you looked into any training type of jobs (like corporate training? organizational development?) Otherwise if you want to get into HR you are most likely going to have to take an HR Asst role to start from the bottom up.

I would focus on what you want to be doing, regardless of the economy. Frankly, I've been looking for an HR job for over 6 months now and having no success,. There aren't a whole lot of HR jobs around because it's a field that's dependent upon overall hiring in the company. Since HR supports the employees, the need for HR ppl is directly related to the number of employees in the company.

If you want to be in HR, then I'd go for it. If you want to be working, and it doesn't matter if it's HR or teaching then I'd think twice. MBA's are not cheap.
