Do I really have to get rid of my $200 carpet??
I'll try to make this as short as possible...
So I took our Chihuahua to the vet the other day for a checkup. Vet notices Im pregnant and says to watch out bc when babies come she might be jealous and start to go to the bathroom in the house, chew things, etc. So i told him we had got a puppy back in Dec. and when he wasnt trained yet he was going all over the house. I guess seeing him do it made her think it was OK so she started peeing on our area rug in the living room. Well now the puppy is fully trained but yet she is still going on the carpet! I have never been able to catch her in the act to scold her so I dont know if thats part of the reason she still goes there.
Now after I tell all this to the vet he says no matter how much I clean it and spray stuff she will continue to go there bc she can still smell it. The only way to get her to stop is to get rid of the rug. It's a fairly new rug and it was $200!! It would kill me to have to throw it out. I have the Bissell SpotBot and use that everytime to get the pee out but he says it'll never be enough.
So do you guys think the only true way to stop her is to get rid of it? And say we do get rid of it, how long should we wait before putting a new one down?

did you try Nature's Miracle? I swear by it. My dog has a UTI and peed on the rug by accident and it stunk! I put the nature's miracle on it and it got out the stain and the smell..
I would buy a bottle try it. I hope that helps!

Re: Do I really have to get rid of my $200 carpet??
I actually JUST got rid of my whole entire wall to wall carpet and put wooden floors down because of this problem. My dogs are both wee wee pad trained but they often miss or at times had accidents. Since we live in an apartment the smell just lingers and it really began to stink so we decided to rip up the carpet and put the wooden floors. They had A LOT less accidents now and if and when they do its a lot easier to clean!! It was either that or get rid of my puppies and there is NOOOO way in h ell that would ever happen!
