figure the other board would gasp...a 4 yr old skateboarding? thoughts?

am I crazy? getting it for his 4th bday?

he hangs out at a skate park 3 times a week in awe...i don't see any kid that young, but they have to start at sometime right?

i would get every pad i could find...i would love earplugs as well...no fond of the tween boy language that goes on...but we will mainly go while they are at school.

dh was never into skateboarding...this is all new to us.

thanks!

I guess I'm a really lax or uncaring mom because I have no issue with skateboarding! Noah has been skateboarding since he was 3 or 4. I don't think I have any older pictures - but here's him at 5.

ETA: Yeah.. we let him ride in the street with just a helmet and no knee pads or elbow pads.

I think it would be great, if anything to build some balancing skills!

I think it's fine. As long as he wears a helmet and is safe then let him enjoy it.

My DS is a skateboarder too Chat Icon
If it were up to me I'd wrap him in bubble wrap, but he's padded to the max! (Not hanging out at a skate park, at our house Chat Icon )

My youngest nephew skatbeboards, so I don't think 4 is too young.

I would rethink the earplugs though - he needs to be able to hear to avoid collisions with other skaters.

My DS thinks he's Tony Hawk...If not for all this paraphanalia, I'd have to reserve a room at the hospital just for us Chat Icon

DS started skateboarding about 4.5. Nothing heavy duty, no ramps or parks just scooting around. I dont see a problem as long as the safety equip. is on.

in this day and age, where so many kids are sitting in front of the tv or playing video games, i love seeing the crowded skate park in greenlawn with all the kids, of all ages

i say go for it!!
