Beagles & Babies
We have a almost 10 month old beagle, and early next year, we'll be bringing home a newborn. Just out of curiousity, does anyone have experience with beagles and babies? I think our dog is going to be great, but definitely a little jealous in the beginning...Right now she is used to being Princess Pup!!!

Re: Beagles & Babies
I don't have any personal experience yet. But i am bringing home 2 new babies in January with 2 Pits and a toy Poodle. I'm not worried at all about my pits. My poodle i am a little concerned but i am sure all will be fine. Everyone is telling me to make sure you have DH bring home blankets and stuff that smell like the baby before you get home. there might be some jealousy but there might not be.

I dont have beagles so I cant answer specific questions about them but I do have 2 dogs and a baby so anything you want to know, feel free to ask.

Re: Beagles & Babies
We have 1/2 a beagle and 1/2 pug who was 2 1/2 years old when we brought our baby home. It took a couple of weeks for her to adjust, but now everything is back to normal. Our baby is now 12 weeks old. We adopted our dog when she was 5 months and spent lots of time training her and exposing her to children in our neighborhood.

Re: Beagles & Babies
if you're nervous, you could contact a dog trainer who would talk to you about how to manage the situation.

Re: Beagles & Babies
I have a beagle and a baby! lol. To be honest he (beagle) doesn't pay too much attention to my dd. And every once in a while he will run up and like her face and walk away. You just have to make sure you give the beagle just as much love as before But they are naturally awesome people/family dogs.

I grew up with beagles. They were never anything but great around babies & children.

Re: Beagles & Babies
Thanks so much for the info! I'm sure she is going to be great with the baby...We'll just have to make sure that we still give her special attention too!
