Anyone else's preschooler starting Boces Readiness Program in Sept?
We had our CPSE meeting with our district getting ready for her to start BRC in September. DD will be in a 6:1:2 class. The guy told me school starts on the 8th but they have off the 9th and 10th.
I'm kind of nervous. DD has never been in a school setting. So to have her go from just her EI services to a full day program is probably going to be hard on her. I'm sure she will get in a routine.
What are you sending your child with on the first day? Anyone else nervous too?

We turned down Boces because we got DS into another program (we needed pull out services and they don't do it at Boces). DH did like the school a lot though.
Boces will have more than 6 children per class. They put 2 6/1/2 class together in the same classroom. So you will really have 12 children.
DS has only been to a mommy and me/integration class.
He is going for a FT program too. Aside that he "learned" about circle time he still has a hard time with it.
He won't be the only one. For a lot of 3 or 4 yo, it will be long days. It's new! Mommy is not there with them. It's not TV or playing breaks between sessions like at home.
The teachers know. They will be patient. I am sure they see it every year. Just like K for typical children. I hoping for the least tears as possible. For them to be as patient and nice as possible. But they know it will be an adaptation phase.
I was even told by some therapists that some kids who we might think would have such a hard time, do thrive completely in school.
We are also starting Sept 8 and off for 2 days. I think it's good for a 1 day start. Then off again. So not too much stress.
DS will taking the bus. DH and I will be following the bus. We were told, parents do that. Parents cry. I think the school/teachers know. It's common!
We were told at the beginning they do crash in the bus or car on the way home. It's a long day!
But they will get used to it!
The one thing that has helped me is that in the Country I was born in, ALL kids go to school at 3. Kindergarten is not 1 year. It's 3 years! So if I lived in France, he could go to school regardless at 3.
Let's have a sob thread on 9/8.

He is going to AHRC (the autism center that was in Seacliff) now called the Brookville Children Center (or something like that!).
