There is only 1 class per grade in my kids school, so they already know. However, the older grades know their assignment at the end of the previous year, they get it with their report cards.

The district told us they'd mail them out the last week of August, but there's only 1 teacher for DD's grade so I already know who it is.

in the school I work - we know at the end of the year, but don't mail it until the end of August, it saves agita that way.
I haven't received my son's yet.
