any advice
My dog was neutered yesterday. I brought him home today wearing the cone. I put him in his crate for bed and checked on him about 30 min later. He had his bottom jaw out of the cone and damaged the cone slightly! I got it back on and it seems to be staying. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there something I can do to prevent him from doing that again We have 9 more days of this!

Honestly my vet didn't make me use a cone for my male or female. Many dogs don't even bother hte incision. My girl did start to lick it so I put a tshirt on her and she wasn't smart enought to move it out of the way. So that protected her. Is the cone a must? Was the surgery routine or were there complications?

Is there anyway you can tighten it a little? Or maybe go back to the vet's for a smaller size? No experience with this, though. My dog was too stupid to even try to get the cone off his head.

We actually had to go back for a bigger cone. The first cone he could get to the whole incision. I do think that if the cone is off he would try to lick it. The t-shirt is a good idea but I don't know that he would leave it on.

The surgery was routine and the incision looks like its healing well.

The cone did not last for Rexy a whole night. He did not want to sleep with it on and it looked uncomfortable I ended up up taking it off and just being very diligent that he was not licking the wound. He really didn't bother it until the stitches started to dissolve which I'm sure was itchy and uncomfortable.

I think they sell a soft cone at Petco. I could be wrong though.

You're right, they do. It's black with white reflective tape around the edges and it's called the Comfy Cone. We have 2 in different sizes and I routinely lend them out. They're awesome.
I hope he heals quick!
