dog-friendly trips
i don't know about you all, but i am already sort of fed up with not being allowed to take our pup ANYWHERE on LI  we just came back from california, and i was so jealous of all the beaches and beautiful hikes that were dog-friendly in state parks and protected land out there.
can my fellow pet owners recommend dog-friendly weekend trips? i was looking into the catskills to see if we could head out for a weekend, maybe in woodstock, and take our girl hiking on some of the nearby trails or, heaven forbid, a swim in a lake. i'm open to all options. i feel like she and we need some outdoor adventure as a "family."
the info seems to be surprisingly hard to find, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

we take our dog to the deleware water gap and she can swim in the river and run around.

I know it's not a big trip, but Martha Clara vineyard allows dogs. We go out in fall for a tasting, you can bring lunch and eat it outside at a picnic table. I haven't found dog-friendly pumpkin picking places yet, but I might try again this year.
There's a place in Vermont too by the ski slopes that's not just dog-friendly, it's like a vacation place for the dog.

i was surprised to find out that MOST of the vineyards allow dogs. we went to lenz on a recommendation about their wine, and when we called ahead we found out that they allow dogs right in the tasting room--awesome! borghese too, i think.
as far as the PP who recommended the delaware water gap, thanks! i hadn't even thought of that, but it's great to know that there are places where they can swim.
