has anyone ever worked in a yeshiva school?
I'm starting next week in a Yeshiva School. I'm not employed by the school, but by the public school district its in. I'm working as a special ed. consultant, teaching resource room 5 periods a day.
My question regards dress. The students have a very strict dress code and must wear skirts. I know in the Orthodox community, the women wear skirts and 3/4 length sleeves.
As a private contractor, I have no dress code. Of course, I plan on dressing conservatively. My supervisor told me I can wear slacks, and don't have to wear long skirts.
Do you think I should still wear long skirts? I don't want to offend and I want to fit in, but doing so, I would have to go out and buy skirts (I honestly only have 2!). Or do you think I would be okay in slacks?
Anyone who is NOT Jewish worked in a yeshiva school? Did you follow their "dress code"?
THank you!

I think I would wear skirts at first and then try to gauge what the non-orthodox employees are wearing. If other female teachers wear slacks I would, if not I would probably get a cple more skirts

Thanks for the advice! I think this is what I will end up doing.

My friend used to work in one. I know she was required to wear a long skirt. If they are telling you you dont have to though, I think slacks are fine.

Modern Orthodox women will wear slacks. But I'd make sure your shoulders are covered. Save your sleeveless and cap sleeve tops for another day.

Honestly, I never show shoulder at work..I am so not conservative in most ways but at work I find it inappropriate to show shoulders. And what a PIA it is to find shirts with sleeves, I am the queen of shrugs lol

ITA! One thing my supervisor advised me of was to keep my shoulders covered, which I would do anyway!

Re: has anyone ever worked in a yeshiva school?
i worked in a jewish school last year, and interviewed at a yeshiva-
honestly, i kinda would follow it just out of respect-the skirt just has to cover your knees, and the shirt your elbows, so it's not horrible..it doesn't have to be long long
at the school i was at last year it was much more informal, but there was still a dress code
and no, im not jewish
