What do you call it?
School or work?
I always refer to it as school and DH gets so mad and tells me I'm not a student, it's my job. I don't know why he cares so much. I think a lot of teachers refer to work as school though as in "I'm not happy to go back to school," or "I have school tomorrow."

I always say "work"
To me "going to school" means being a student in a class, not the teacher.
Sometimes if I'm on the phone with my mom she's say something like "do you have to go to school tomorrow?" and it feels so strange to me!!! I always say "yeah I have work"

I tend to say school a lot, and then say I'm going to class at night. I'm not really consistent.

I say school a lot, but it drives my chairperson crazy, apparently, when teachers do that. So of course, I haven't stopped.

I usually call it work. To me, school is being a student.
My DH always makes a comment when I say "my kids" instead "my students". But they ARE my kids!!

I have friends who give me a hard time about this. They'll say, "I didn't know you had kids!" (when they know I don't) I think I will usually say to another teacher, "I have to go pick up my kids from Art." I think I would feel funny saying, "I have to go pick up my students from Art." when I'm at work (school? )

I say I have to go to work. As in I have to go to work on Tuesday (insert expletive LOL)
However my DH and I are both teachers and when talking about work we say at my school....or today at school....

I always say school.
And I always call my students "my kids", this confuses people who don't know me since we have no children yet
ETA: I see a lot of us call them "my kids" lol

I also use both...school and work. I think I use work when I'm talking to other teachers but call it school if I'm talking to a non-teacher  Either way, I wish we still had another week off from school/work!!
