OK - i think we have made a break through that he has to LIFT the lid, but he is still not focusing and peeing on the floor. I am constantly wiping up pee!

any advice?

To help Andy learn to aim into the toilet we'd toss a few cheerios in there and tell him to try to hit them. Within a day or 2 he was good at keeping it in the bowl and off the floor.

And he usually dribbles a little on the rim, from the start we told him that he needs to get a little toilet paper and wipe it up before he flushes.

Good luck!

We also used toilet targets! I think they were little sheets of paper, almost like tissue paper, and they were in shapes of animals and he would aim for them when we dropped a few in.

Am I too late to use targets? I feel like he will look at me like I'm nuts.

If you're talking about M, I'd say you definitely missed the boat on using targets.Chat Icon

If I could get them to flush I would be happy and even lift the lid. Friggin boys, I don't think any of them know how to go to the bathroom right, my DH included.

Re: boys and the toilet

If it helps - my bathroom downstairs constantly smells like a NYC subway station!!! Two young toilet trained boys has not been fun. Kevin rarely majorly misses but sometimes rushes and drips all over. Alex is getting better but can still be all over adn finds it funny! urgh!!!!!

I do encourage them to be calmer and take their time and do tell them to wipe down if they miss. But I have to constantly sanitize that bathroom - was never warned how bad it would be.
