Re: Curves
For me, it was worth it for a while. I had a membership for about 3 years. I did tone up and lost weight and definitely had noticable results. Then, I moved and for some reason, just didn't like any of the locations near my new house as much, so I slacked off. I got a little bored with it and decided not to renew. I am looking to join a larger gym now, with a bigger variety of equipment.
IMO the pros: 30 minute workout is convenient, people are friendly, you can go at your own pace, good for people who haven't exercised in a while, all women - no meatheads or pickup scene.
Cons: the hours were the worst thing about it, IMO. They are open till 8 or 8:30 in the evening during the week, but only till about noon or 1:00 PM on weekends. They also don't open early enough in the morning for me to go early and get home to shower before work. No locker room or extra facilities - the first one I went to had lockers, which was great, but the others I went to didn't, which was a pain for me, since I don't like to exercise with my jewelry on. After a while I got a little bored and some of the music drove me batty.
