For those who have VPI insurance or any other insurance
I used to have insurance for both my dogs. It recently lapsed and I want to renew it however, it's just really expensive and right now we really can't afford it. However, my furbabies mean everything to me and I don't want to not have ins. for them JUST in case.
They are due for their distemper and Lesto shots... and in the past when I would submit the bill to VPI it would help to get some of that money that I paid out back...

Re: For those who have VPI insurance or any other insurance
Over and over again I've thought about getting insurance for my furkids but I never do. I've just heard way too many stories about claims being denied. So, I just put away each month what I would have spent on the insurance. I know how much their annuals cost so I put away for that too. My friend was just telling me a story about a woman who had VPI for 11 years and paid for 11 years. Her dog got sick and she filed a claim and was denied because it's a known condition of her breed so they wouldn't cover it!!!

I have PetPlan. I like them, but they DO NOT cover well visits and immunizations for dogs. I actually wanted it just in case of accidents and illnesses and I chose the plan will cover 90% of the claim so we pay only 10% of the total bill. This is after she had to be hospitalized for a week and it cost us 3,000.
Have you tried PetcoI think they do low cost vaccination days?

Yep - I had it for my kitty. Everything was denied. I brought her in for clogged, infected anal glands and all the tests, visits and drugs weren't covered. Somehow they considered infected anal glands to be a 'normal maintenance item'. If an infection was normal, then i wouldn't bring her to the vet.
I let it lapse. Not worth it for me to pay for the insurance then have to spend time to fight to get a small percentage of the money back.
