Need some music suggestions for writing workshop

I'd love to have some music playing in the background (softly) while my students are completing journal entries in the beginning of class. Last year I did it once with Bob Marley (it related to the story we were reading) and the kids really liked it. This year, I'd like to do it all the time. I'd like to expose them to a wide variety...classical, jazz, maybe some classic rock, etc. I know some classical selections that I would like to play but that's about it. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

You could relate it to books, stories or biographies?

there are two john denver songs that were made into picture books using the lyrics:

Classical - Peter and the Wolf - you can read the story and then use the music as background music later.

I've played Jack Johnson, Foo Fighters, Beatles, Sarah McLaughlin, Edwin McCain, Regina Spektor, Radiohead.

I usually play them during a test or when they are copying pre-written notes.

I've seen a teacher play Enya for Kindergarteners and it was a very relaxed and calm atmosphere.
