Dealing with this job climate

I am looking hard for a job. I was okay for a while - mentally and financially - but now am getting a bit desperate.

Can anyone share techniques for searching in this difficult environment? If you got a job recently, did you do anything new or that others might not have thought of? Were you more aggressive than usual? How did you make your resume stand out? Etc. etc.?

What works these days? I've never had this much trouble before.

Hugs to you. So many of us are feeling this way. I have never experienced so much trouble finding a job either. I have been looking for awhile now.

I used to find jobs with hardly any effort.

I have been super aggressive, it's depressing because even that has not made it any easier. I am sorry that this does not seem more positive. Hang in there!

I know my agency is actually hiring but having a hard time finding good candidates.

I work for a home care agency and the main positions they are looking to hire for are staffing coordinators to fill cases.

It's a stressful position, but it's a job.

I know they are looking for people with a strong customer service background who are willing and able to deal with people who can sometimes be extremely difficult.

I just started a new job a little over a month ago. I had been looking for about 4 months and I really started to see things pick up after I had my resume professionally updated. It cost money (probably around $200) but to me it was worth it because I got a really good position and a salary increase as well.

My boss told me today he is looking to hire a MSW (you don't need your license).

He is however looking for someone who would also be willing to work in Brooklyn and Queens. He will possibly need someone for LI, but the need is really for the boros right now. If you are interested, shoot me an FM.

I was out of work for a year and nine months before landing anything. that said, i took a year off, looked sporadically for 3 months, and aggressively for 6 months.

i didn't do anything different, but i think that as i interviewed more, my answers became more polished. i would say if you can practice interviewing, either w/ a friend or if there's a free service, do that. take it seriously and work out the "kinks" in your answers. try to think of questions an interviewer might ask that might trip you up and work on those answers as well.

i don't know if it was practice or just luck that landed me a job - though it is just a temporary job. I wish I had better suggestions for you. It really is tough still. Try to make sure you see people and stay social, go for walks or the gym, whatever you prefer. It's important to keep your spirits up, especially if you're interviewing. Don't want to come across as a negative person even if it's just a situational thing. Job searching is so frustrating. Try to do nice things for yourself w/o feeling guilty.
