Re: resume question: is it critical that a resume be only one page?
I recently had a resume that was about 4 pages, and I heard from several people in my field that it was way too long. I was told to trim it down to be 1-2 pages, but 1 is better. Very hard to do, but I got it down to about 1 and a half. I cut out a lot of my job duties and skills because someone told me a lot of that wwere things an interviewer would assume I know how to do.

Re: resume question: is it critical that a resume be only one page?
It depends on your field. I work in higher ed., and we use curriculum vitaes that include publications, courses taught, etc., so mine is 3 pages.
Any other field, it is hard to say without seeing the resume, but cut down the oldest positions, or pare down to bullet points of the few most important aspects of the position.

There comes a point in your career when it's hard to not have 2. I'm not sure about 3 though.

I have it on two. Been working about 25 years. Now I leave off my first two jobs.

Re: resume question: is it critical that a resume be only one page?
My career history spans 13 yrs. I've always been in marketing though, working in various industries (though always manufacturing).
The resume is two full pages and about the top third of a third page. I'm definitely going to trim it down, possibly combine bullet points in order to cut it down.
If I get it down to two pages, that should be ok, right?
Ugh...I really HATE this.

Can you manipulate your margins and font size a bit more to make it fit better on 2 pages? that's what I've done to keep it to 2.

Re: resume question: is it critical that a resume be only one page?
well I guess it could depend on what level positions you are applying to- but I have to be honest- I'm in Marketing and at my company we ditch anything over a page. Can you revise and just list the most relevant positions on your resume and just the dates for the others?

well, I'm looking to branch out and seek a new position that's something I've never done.
My experience has been as a trade show coordinator and marketing coordinator.
I'm now looking to get into the agency side (which I have no experience with) and looking at traffic coordinator positions. I know I'll most likely take a pay cut but it could be a stepping stone to getting to where I'd ultimately like to be - which is either project management or account management.
As for my experience, I feel that what I've done translates to a trafficking position but as a whole, therefore, I'm hesitant to cut out my prior positions.
What do you think?

I see what you are saying- its your whole career span that really is your experience for the next job. Try and get it down as much as possible and use your cover letter to call out the most important skills. I would offer to review it for you- but I work in Client Management and have never done traffic so I dont know what they look for there
good luck

Definitely not. You don't need to put every single thing you did. We're looking for experienced professionals - so they are rarely 1 page.

If you don't mind looking at it, I wouldn't mind forwarding it to you!
I'm ultimately looking to get to a position that's either client based (ie. client management or account management) or project based - such as project management in a production capacity.
Are you in an agency setting?

I have 11 years experience. I work really hard to keep it to TWO pages. One page would be impossible.

I was able to get it down to two pages and I think it's pretty good. We'll see, I guess.

I just revamped mine and it's two pages. I think it's hard not to make it two pages if you have over 16 years working experience.
