6th Grade Science Position

Hello!
Bronx Preparatory Charter School, a college preparatory middle and high school serving low-income students in the South Bronx is seeking a full-time 6th Grade Science Teacher. This teacher would be responsible for 5 sections of 6th grade science. Each section meets once per day for 45 min periods.
School Mission and Program

The mission of the Bronx Preparatory Charter School is to prepare underserved middle and high school students for higher education, civic involvement and lifelong success through a structured, caring environment of high academic expectations.

Bronx Prep runs an extended-day and extended-year program that places rigorous demands on teachers' energy and time. All teachers must participate in the school's professional development plan, which supports them in the creation and delivery of aim-driven lessons - based on the school's standards - that reach students with various learning styles. Assessment tools including standardized exams are built into the curriculum to measure student progress on a regular basis.

Teaching experience and certification is required. The ability to be flexible and good humored about the challenges of working in a relatively new school is also important. Every faculty member is expected to act as an active participant in our evolving professional learning community.
Additional Qualifications:
Teaching experience and New York State Certification are required.
