DIBELS and AIMSWEB
Our school is looking into Dibels and Aimsweb as a universal screening tool. Can anyone share some feedback on any of them? Do you use either one? Can you give me advantages and disadvantages?

Re: DIBELS and AIMSWEB
I used DIBELS. I think it is the biggest waste of time ever! Proves nothing. The kids are supposed to read as fast as they can and cannot go back to self correct because it is all about how fast they can get through it. Decoding does NOT mean reading.
I never used the other things that you mentioned.

Re: DIBELS and AIMSWEB
We are piloting both programs at my school. So far:
1. HATE Dibels!!!! I love how they base the oral retelling piece on how many words they use to retell. What?! How about whether or not the retelling piece is actually halfway correct???
2. Aimsweb: Haven't started using it yet. We're using something right now called ClassScapes. Ugh.
