Adopting a family for Christmas

DH & I want to have our entire family adopt a family for Christmas this year. Instead of us buying gifts for our family members, and them buying for us we would like have everyone buy gifts for a family in need. How do we go about finding a family? We really want to help out a good honest, hard working family who is just down on their luck. Now that we have had dd (6months) we want to start a tradition of giving back this time of year, something we can continue as she gets older. Anyone know how to go about this?

Re: Adopting a family for Christmas

Just repsonded on parenting, but we do this every year and we call our local middle school. They always have a list of needy families in your district from the school social worker. We are then put in contact with the nurse who does all the logistics, she gets us the list and we drop gifts off with her.
