Re: if you are childless and dont want to be..but
We wanted to have a child. We spent 4 years of fertility treatments and had 3 miscarriages. I did 4 IVF cycles, all were a bust, (I got PG from IUI's). For DH, it was different, he was ready to call it quits after the first m/c, but continued and would've continued as long as I wanted to.
Acceptance was the first and hardest part. I don't know to explain to you how I got to where I was accepting that I would never be someone's mother. I knew I was just tired of the treatments, the drugs, the running around. I was missing huge parts of my life devoting myself to the IVF process.
After I acceptance and over time, I became happy with my life with DH. We have a wonderful 16 year old Goddaughter, and I am very blessed that her Mother, my BFF, shares her with me and has since she was born. Kristen is the child DH and I didn't get to have. We have filled our lives with other happinesses.
I knew I had to accept because I couldn't spend the rest of my life being miserable and not enjoying my life because I didn't have a child.
If that is what is meant to be, you will find your way too.

Re: if you are childless and dont want to be..but
I'm 44, DH is 48, and I have to face that it's just not meant to be.
Most of the time I'm ok that DH and I are a family of two, but there are moments when I feel like there is a part of me that is missing. I grieve for something that is not there.
But, I still have a life with my DH. We have a life together, we travel a lot. There are two special children in my life, my sister's children, and DH loves them as well.
It takes time. I'm just not quite there yet.

It's a grieving process. Not that it's the same, but do you and your DH have kids you can spend time with like above poster? I have my two SDs and it helps sometimes.
